About Us

My parent company, Pennelope's Cupboard, was founded on the idea of sharing our love of sewing with more people like you!

We endeavor to offer high quality products, personal service, instruction and inspiration to our customers.

I took over Sew Smart Sewing Center/Mountain Home Sewing in October 2015. It has long been my dream to do exactly what I am doing here.

I've spent most of my adult life in the Home Sewing Industry. My first job out of college was managing fabric stores. LOVE FABRIC!!! Then a stint with a clothing manufacturer... I was the credit manager.... not my cup of tea, but I worked there about 5 years.

I took 10 years off to marry, have my children and enjoy them.  Then I took a job selling fabric for a distributor for a couple of years. The next move was to JUKI as a manufacturers rep, educator, repair tech, show manager etc... We had to do a little of everything then.  9 years there.  

From there I went to work for Brother International in the Home sewing group. I had a great time there for 16 years in Education, Product Development, Accessory Product Management and most recently District Sales Manager. 16 years there.

In 2014, it was time to move on to the next phase in my life and I began talking to Jerry Walcott, a long time friend and customer, about purchasing this store. 

And here I am! You have all received me well and I appreciate your friendship and your business.

Jim and Sue Allen have been with the store for some years and continue to do a great job here. Garry is a great addition to this staff with his knowledge of sewing, embroidery and quilting. I have been blessed with this wonderful staff that has been so supportive not only of me but of all of our customers.

Our newest additions are Linda Pitts who brings great enthusiasm and business knowledge to the staff.

We are having a great time making this store a great place to visit and the best store to buy from!
